You will instantly recognize this guy in your office because he (sometimes she) is present in almost every office regardless of its staff’s number. Every time he talks over phone, you will type the same word again and again, thanks to his loud voice audible at every corner of the office. True, that you can avoid him, but ignoring the fact that your precious time is wasted is not easy. Right etiquettes and manners at office are about respecting your colleagues and treating them with courtesy in all you actions.

Here is the deal; you spend around nine hours a day for five days a week in your office, and no matter whether you like it or not you have to be around many different people, we call colleagues, or if you are lucky work-buddies. Just keep you eyes on the screen

I have worked in many office environments over the years, and one thing that always amazes me is the way that leering men think that they are subtle about their staring and sexist chatter. Now I understand that boys will be boys and all that, but can they not leave their sex filled mind at the gates of the workplace? I’m sure you either know what I’m talking about, or you are the one doing it!

Don’t be taken advantage of!

posted by admin in Uncategorized

Are you the girl or the guy in the office who always ends up doing the most work? Perhaps your lovely personality has been your downfall, in which case you wonder about how you’re going to proceed in this world where only nasty people seem to succeed?

Have no fear. Here are our office tips for today: how to not get taken advantage of.

1) One of the biggest culprits is the kind of job you do. Say for example you work in human resources – a good profession, but also one which generates a lot of different tasks such as paper-work, interviews and arranging appointments. In that case you might want to learn how to manage your time with octopus hr (or should I say like Octopus). As one of the best hr companies out there, the firm really know their stuff. They’ve basically developed a really good time-management system which means their employees don’t struggle through but instead excel.

Write down how MUCH work you do every single day: this means that when your boss doesn’t believe how hard you work, you actually have PROOF. This is pretty fantastic, because it means that they will have no choice but to believe you…

2) Maybe you keep saying Yes all the time: saying Yes all the time, like Danny Wallace did in his book “Yes man” is fantastic for a few reasons…but it also has its disadvantages too. The sooner you learn how to start being more assertive, you will be well away!

3) Make a stand: the reason you keep staying late is this: you keep allowing it to happen! Don’t allow it to happen. If you feel like you’re being bullied then ask a more senior member of staff for help. But do not allow things to continue as they are – you’re very likely to end up in an even worse state.

4) Write down how MUCH work you do every single day: this means that when your boss doesn’t believe how hard you work, you actually have PROOF. This is pretty fantastic, because it means that they will have no choice but to believe you. Which we happen to think is really nice, and will also wipe that smug smile off all your work-mates'faces, too!

5) Try not to slag other people off: this is a tricky one. Naturally if you are annoyed you will want to vent, but just don’t do it on Facebook. All that’ll happen is that you’ll end up looking like the bad guy or girl, and it’ll be hard to undo that damage.
