Now, everyone always comes in and says they hate Mondays. Y’know, I’m really not so sure, I’ve started a hate war against Tuesdays. They are my total nemesis, and let me tell you for why.
The weekend- pretty obviously is the best time of the week, Yay, happiness, you’re out and about, doing stuff you want to do, going on treasure hunts, getting weightloss treatment ready for the summer- you name it, you do it. Obviously the best time of Read the rest of this entry »

Hey, I sit in an open plan office. There’s loads to see. Heaps of distractions to view instead of the mind numbing data entry job I managed to get. Well, what did I think I’d be doing with only 2 GCSE’s and no other qualifications. Do I care. Do I heck.
So. I spend my day typing. Entering data. Making the database look pretty. Making myself look pretty. Hey, don’t think I’m shallow in any way. But looking pretty IS Read the rest of this entry »

Nine to Five. That is what I work. It is the norm for office workers. That is also what is written in to my contract as ‘contractual hours’. So why, why is it that I find myself ‘required’ to arrive at the office in a morning for the 8.30am meeting on a Monday morning. Why? My contract states 9.00am. Not 8.30am.
That’s thirty minutes of my life that work has just stolen.
My contract also states I am ‘entitled’ to Read the rest of this entry »

It may be convenient to bring your cell phone to work with you. But you have to be careful not to let it get in the way of your job. If you don’t, you could end up in hot water with your boss and co-workers.
If you are going to have your cell phone with you at work, put it on vibrate. That way, you won’t disturb anyone in your office with a constantly ringing cell phone. Also, you won’t Read the rest of this entry »

Five years ago, I was on the prowl looking for a 9-to-5 job outside of the home. Money was getting tight, and I was bored with being a housewife. I thought a job would solve all my problems. Boy was I wrong!
Initially, of course, there was a honeymoon period. The HR people, along with my boss, had nothing but good things to say about me. Plus, I was earning 35K, more money than I had ever seen in my Read the rest of this entry »

A few years ago, I worked for a leading tour wholesale company. We were a large company with a very large lunchroom. In the room we had four vending machines, 2 cold drink machines, 1 hot beverage machine and a snack vending machine. On a daily – even hourly basis someone would purchase a drink or candy from one of the machines. The lunchroom had 12 tables spread out over the lunchroom. One day in particular a co-worker and Read the rest of this entry »

There used to be a time in offices when there would be a natural break in the morning and again in the afternoon when rattle of the tea trolley and the chatter of the tea ladies would be heard in the corridor. All the staff would smile and relax their shoulders as one. The tea ladies would call us ‘love’ and ‘darlin’ and send us into the next part of our working day sustained by a hot beverage.
